This year's Programme Management Meeting will be an interactive session focusing on the engagement of hard-to-reach patient groups and transient populations.
With the launch in May of PHE's Screening Inequalities Strategy and the expected introduction of extended screening intervals in 2019/20, DESPs are increasingly being encouraged to address issues of inequality and improve access to screening amongst hard-to-reach patient groups. These might include homeless people, gypsy and traveller communities, ethnic minority or faith groups, patients in secure facilities or those with learning difficulties.
So how do we engage with these patients? What are the barriers to attendance and how can we overcome them? What has worked in your programme, and what hasn't?
This year's meeting is an opportunity to share ideas and experiences, with the aim of identifying ways in which DESPs can address inequalities in their local area.
The meeting is free to attend, but registration is required. Book your place by visiting the BARS website at www.eyescreening.org.uk and following the link to the Conference page.
