Links & References - Musculoskeletal Health and Wellbeing Survey

Musculoskeletal health and wellbeing survey of staff that undertake ophthalmic imaging.

In 2022 the Eye Research Group Oxford conducted an audit evaluating whether photographers who operate ophthalmic imaging equipment were at an increased risk of developing Musculoskeletal Disorders (MSD).

The results were published in the Journal of Visual Communication in Medicine and indicated that the number of imaging procedures carried out by a photographer over the duration of their career may be the key to calculating the risk factors for developing MSDs.

We concluded that further studies are needed to explore the prevalence of MSD's amongst the UK NHS photographer workforce with the inclusion of questions related to psychosocial issues which impact MSD's.

We have created a questionnaire and would like to invite photographers from around the UK who use the imaging equipment to take part to gain a greater understanding of their working practices regardless of whether they are experiencing pain or discomfort from using the imaging equipment.

Please see attached e-flyer here which includes a link to the questionnaire.

Many thanks,

Jonathan Brett.
